MURPHY'S GOAL DELIGHT

MURPHY\'S GOAL DELIGHT

Midfielder talks us through his match-winning strike against Bournemouth...

Luke Murphy says he was "delighted to have scored two in two" after netting the goal which put league leaders Bournemouth to the sword at Elland Road.

Murphy, who also grabbed the equaliser against Birmingham on Saturday, doubled his tally for the season on 36 minutes against the Cherries, sending a sweet left-footed effort sailing into Artur Boruc’s top corner from just outside the area.

"It just came across my body and I hit it with my left foot," said the midfielder. "It had a bit of swerve on it and sometimes they go in, most of the time they end up in Row Z!

"I’m just delighted to have scored two in two and hopefully I can push on from there and carry it on."

Asked if was among the best goals of his career so far, Murphy replied: "It’s one of them.

"It was nice to score at Wembley with Crewe but obviously every goal for Leeds United is a massive, massive thing for me.

"It’s definitely up there."

Despite going down to 10 men late on following Giuseppe Bellusci’s dismissal, Neil Redfearn’s side held on as Yann Kermorgant smashed the subsequent penalty off the bar and over.

It meant that United secured a seasonal double over Bournemouth and ended a run of eight games without a win in dramatic fashion.

Murphy said: "It’s a great feeling to beat the top of the league.

"I think the lads have done really well in these last couple of weeks and really deserved it last night.

"We did get a bit of luck – they had a few chances and obviously the penalty, but I think we deserved something for the hard work we put in."
