Defender Patrick Kisnorbo's appearance for Australia in Wednesday night's friendly international against the Republic of Ireland gave him the distinction of becoming Leeds United's 100th full international player.

The 28-year-old central defender, who joined United last month on a two-year contract after four years with Leicester City, played for half the game against the Republic of Ireland, which Australia won 3-0.

He began his career with South Melbourne before moving to Scotland to join Hearts and was keen to win back a place in his country's international side. But he played with 15 stitches in a head wound, suffered in United's 2-1 opening day League One win against Exeter City.

"Paddy came off at half time and I don't know whether that was planned before the game but he opened up his head wound a little bit," United boss Simon Grayson revealed.

"A couple of the stitches came away but he is going to be fine for Saturday's game at Wycombe," he said.

The United manager added: "I'm delighted he has got back into the international fold. Obviously it doesn't suit us too much but you have to run with that when you sign players of Paddy's quality.

"His ambition is to get back in the side and stay there for the World Cup. That has got to be the highlight of anybody's ambition and you can't fault him for that," he added.

Fellow central defender Rui Marques, who was away on international duty with Angola, is also expected to be fit to return to action on Saturday.
