JASON LOOKING TO GET BACK TO IT

United defender looks ahead to Boro clash...

Defender Jason Pearce is looking forward to a return to action on Saturday when United head for Middlesbrough.

Brian McDermott’s side head for Teesside for a televised clash on the back of a weekend without action.

“I’ve been lucky enough to play every game and I felt like we needed a rest,” said Jason. “The batteries have recharged and we’re ready to go again now.

“We need to get that consistency. We’re gradually getting there. The last few performances have been good, but we need to find a level of consistency and see where we end up.

“You see the points that are there to play for. You can do it.”

Along with Paddy Kenny, Jason is the only player to start every game this season – Ross McCormack started all but the Capital One Cup tie with Chesterfield – and his regular partner at the back is Tom Lees.

“I’ve always said that Leesy is a quality player and you only get better as a partnership the more you play together,” said Jason. “But Marius and Scotty are good players as well so there’s competition and you have to stay on top of your game.

“My attitude hasn’t changed in that I just keep working hard and do my best. I try to stay in the team.”

While United head for Middlesbrough having tasted defeat once in the last four outings, the home side are without a win in five.

“Middlesbrough may think they have probably slightly underachieved,” added Jason. “They’re a good side. It’ll be a real test, but we’re ready for it.”
