United were hit with two injury setbacks on Tuesday night as striking duo Noel Hunt and Lewis Walters were forced to be withdrawn at Mansfield Town.

Both started the game but in a 10 minute period in the first half, and after receiving treatment on the field, both needed to be substituted.

At the moment there is no timescale on the injuries but head coach David Hockaday is hoping it won’t be for too long.

“Pre-season games are about individuals getting fit and staying fit,” said Hockaday. “We’ve had two or three injuries and that’s not good, but we have been injury free up until Tuesday’s game.

“I can’t really say too much about the injuries at the moment.

“There are two of the lads that look like they are going to be out for a little while.”

One injury boost for United is that midfielder Alex Mowatt is nearing his return to action.

“I think Saturday could come too soon for Alex to play for the first team,” said Hockaday. “But certainly by Saturday he’ll be playing for the Under-21s.”
