PRE-SEASON: NORWAY TRIP EXCITES ROSLER

Head coach on United's summer visit to Norway...

Uwe Rosler is relishing the prospect of returning to Norway with his United side this summer and says he is well aware of the club’s "massive fan base" in the country.

Following a week-long training camp in Austria, the squad will head to Norway to take on German club Hoffenheim at the Arasen Stadion, home of Lillestrom SK, on July 25.

Connections with Norway have been strong for many years, and the Leeds United Supporters Club of Scandinavia is the biggest individual Leeds United branch in the world, boasting over 4,000 members.

Having played and managed in Norway, Rosler knows the country particularly well, and he is already planning on bringing the fans and the players together as part of the trip.

“For me, doing it in the past with Brentford or Wigan, we also made things public," he explained.

“We always invited the fans, especially at Brentford. We went to Germany and it was great to bring the fans together with the players. These days in football, that is not normal.

“Obviously, Leeds United is a different kind of fish. We will be very happy to get as many Leeds supporters down as we can.

“There will be a time where we, as a team – coaches and players – will join our supporters and give them access to photos and autographs. That will be organised later on.

“There is a massive fan base in Norway for Leeds United. I think it is the third or fourth biggest fan base in Norway and those people will be very, very happy to have such a big club back at Norway.”

On the prospect of facing Hoffenheim, who finished eighth in the Bundesliga table, Rosler added: “They are a very tough team to play against and are also in Oslo for 10 days.

"They will provide good opposition to play against.

“Gunnar Halle, my friend and with the connection to Leeds United, contacted us and it was just a matter of a date we could agree with and all terms and conditions.

“We will fly out to Oslo from Austria on the 24th after training, stay overnight in a hotel before playing early afternoon in Lillestrom against Hoffenheim. We will return to Leeds immediately after the game.”
