HERNANDEZ RARING TO GET STARTED

Spanish winger could debut for United this weekend...

Pablo Hernandez could be in line for his United debut at Queens Park Rangers on Sunday, and this week’s loan arrival from Al-Arabi insists he’s happy to be utilised however boss Garry Monk sees fit.

The 31-year-old, who finalised his six-month loan switch to Elland Road on Tuesday morning, has trained with his new team-mates at Thorp Arch throughout the week and is hopeful of being involved for the lunchtime kick-off at Loftus Road.

Hernandez’s versatility saw him operate in a number of attacking positions during his recent two-year stint at Swansea City, and he says he’s willing to bring those options to United.

“I’ve played in the number 10 role and at Swansea I also played on the right and the left,” he explained.

“Garry Monk knows me and he knows I can play in these three positions. I will work hard to help the team.

“I will play on the right, the left or in the middle for Garry – the most important thing is that I’m in the eleven.

“My mentality has been to work hard this week – to train well and get my fitness. I feel ready for Sunday.

“I’ve needed to work very hard this week because the rest of the team have done some good work over these last few weeks.

“I haven’t trained too much in this position but the feeling is unbelievable for me to have come to a big club in England. I’m just impatient for the first game with the team!”

On completing his return to England, Hernandez added: “It’s been a long wait for me. I had some vacations because the Spanish league finished early and in Qatar they start later.

“During this time, I had time to think about my future and one month ago, maybe, I heard about this possibility to come here.

“Coming here was the only thing in my head and I didn’t need to speak too much with my people and my family because we all knew this was good for me. My family are very happy for this chance.

“I always knew that I would choose to come back to England if I had the chance because it’s where the best football is – the fans are unbelievable in the Premier League and the Championship.

“It’s a strong league – the Championship is difficult as there are a lot of teams fighting to go to the Premier League.

“I know this but I’ve come here to help the club fight for that goal of the Premier League. It’s difficult but I know the people here think it’s a possibility and we’re going to fight for it.”
