Neil Warnock's Southampton verdict...
United manager Neil Warnock was delighted with his side's performance after beating Premier League Southampton 3-0 at Elland Road on Tuesday to book a place in the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup.
Goals from Michael Tonge, El-Hadji Diouf, and Luciano Becchio proved enough to secure United a deserved win against the Saints to secure a place in Wednesday's last-eight draw.
"I thought right from the word go we were at it," said the boss.
"I wanted us to enjoy it. If all the games were like Charlton the other week I'm better off fishing, but when I see a team like last night doing what we did…we played some good football."
Tonge's goal was the difference between the two sides for a long period, despite United dominating, but Diouf effectively sealed the game in the final moments before substitute Becchio wrapped things up with a stoppage time penalty.
"I said to Jeppo with about 20 minutes left that extra time would kill us with the Brighton game on Friday," said the boss.
"They were always going to have a chance at some stage, but we kept going forward. I didn't want us to sit back. We should have scored more goals really. I like goals like Dioufy's because it was a tap in and we don't score enough of them.
"I don't think anyone could complain at the result. We were superb from the start. It's one of those performances you don't want to end. We could have played another hour."
