Neil Warnock watches training

Neil Warnock says team selection will be an 11th hour decision this weekend as he ponders both team changes and the injury situation.

The boss made four changes for the midweek clash with Charlton and could make a similar re-shuffle for Saturday's game against Birmingham (3pm), subject to the fitness of certain players.

Rodolph Austin and Lee Peltier both missed Tuesday's 1-1 draw due to ankle injuries while Michael Tonge was also named among on the subs due to a shoulder injury.

"Rudy has had his scan and we'll know more in the next 24 hours," said the boss. "He's not feeling too bad so we'll see.

"He did it against Barnsley, then travelled all the way for the Jamaica games. He didn't play in the first game and shouldn't have played the second, then he flew back all that way in economy. It was no way to help him really.

"Lee's had his scan as well and we'll know more about him in the next 24 hours as well. We'll see how he goes on Friday and leave it late.

"There's Michael Tonge as well. I didn't feel we could play him from the start on Tuesday because of the pain, but if he has nothing untoward we'll push him back in. It will be late this time, usually we have a fair idea, but we'll be leaving this one until as late as we can."

New loan signing Ryan Hall has been named among the substitutes for the past two games, and the Southend winger may also be closing in on his Leeds United debut.

"He has a programme he is working on," added the boss. "I'm dying to get him involved. We're showing him more about what we want."
