Defender Paul Connolly has joined Portsmouth in a one month loan deal.

The 28-year-old finalised the details of his move on Saturday morning to ensure he was available for the south coast's opening League One game of the season.

Paul was placed on the transfer list at the end of last season and hasn't figured with the first team squad during the pre-season programme.

The right-back was signed by Simon Grayson in the summer of 2010 from Derby County and has made 64 appearances for the club, 30 of which came last season.
