The first fixture of the new season will be confirmed later this week when the draw for the Capital One Cup first round is made.

Capital One are the new sponsors of the Football League Cup, and the draw for the first round will be announced on Thursday June 14 at 9.30am.

Unusually, the cup competition will mark the start of the season for Football League clubs next term with the first round tie due to take place during the midweek commencing August 13, ahead of the opening league game of the season.

The new Championship campaign gets underway on the weekend of August 18 with the new fixtures set to be released on Monday June 18 at 9am.

Last season, we entertained Bradford City in the first round of the League Cup, pictured, and, after beating the Bantams and Doncaster Rovers, we were knocked out at the third round stage by Manchester United.
