Robert Snodgrass

Neil Warnock has confirmed that Robert Snodgrass will be wearing the captain's armband for the remainder of the season.

The Scot took over from Andy Lonergan at Portsmouth on Saturday, and the new boss says he will skipper the side for the next two months.

"I had a chat with Andy and it's nothing against him," explained the boss.

"I've never known a goalkeeper as captain and I think he was quite relieved really.

"He's taken it on board and wished Snods all the best. I said to Snods he'll be captain for the rest of the season and we'll see where we go."

The Scot responded to his new responsibility with a strong second half performance at Portsmouth.

"He got frustrated in the first half because we couldn't get the ball to him and it was like Wacky Races at times," added the boss.

"But I thought he had a lot of the ball in the second half. He can't get frustrated because he can cause a lot of problems."
