Rob Snodgrass celebrates at Palace

United flyer Robert Snodgrass has welcomed the arrival of new manager Neil Warnock - and insists it's important that Leeds don't get now get "stung" by Portsmouth on Saturday.

After beating relegation threatened Doncaster last time out on a dramatic afternoon at Elland Road, the new boss has had a full week with the players in readiness for the weekend trip to face floundering Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

"I think we knew what to expect when he came in," said Robert.

"He was there last Saturday, he was in at half-time, he was in at the end, he chatted before, and I think the team spirit shone through.

"No manager comes in and waves a magic wand around.

"He's come in, been honest with the lads, told us our jobs, and you do it his way or you won't get in the team. But you have to do it well, You can't just can't turn up and expect to get a result.

"You need to do your job well and help the team because it's a team game."

The focus is now firmly on Fratton Park and picking up back to back victories for the first time since the start of December.

"The gaffer said your Southamptons and West Hams look after themselves, but your Doncasters and Portsmouths are fighting for their lives and these are the harder games in some respects," said Robert.

"People look and expect you to win, but you can't just turn up and expect to win a football match. It doesn't work like that.

"You have to earn the right to play and you have to respect the opposition. Coventry was a fine example where we got stung and we don't want that to happen again."
