Ross reflects on City game and temporary boss..
United striker Ross McCormack was left rueing the hat-trick that never was after Saturday's 3-0 success at Bristol City.
Ross picked up one in the Ashton Gate triumph, but he had the ball in the net four times in total and was also brought down when clean through on goal by James Wilson for what the striker described as a "stonewall" sending off.
"I got three ruled out for offside and I'm not sure about any of them to be honest, but I guess it wasn't mean to be," he said.
"I thought they should have been goals, and we missed a couple of chances as well, but the main thing was that we won the game and we did that convincingly, albeit against nine men in the end.
"It was spoilt as a spectacle when they went down to 10 men, but the message from their dug out was to stay in the game because if it stays 1-0 they can get back into it. We needed the second goal to kill the game off."
The game was Neil Redfearn's first in temporary charge of the team, following the departure of Simon Grayson and his staff earlier in the week.
"First and foremost I've got to give Simon and his team credit because they took the club out of League One and made us a force in this division," said Ross.
"We're still only a few points off the Play-Offs and he can keep his head high in terms of what he's done, but Redders has come in and given the players a lift. Everyone is focused on trying to get to the Play-Offs.
"If we go and win six in a row, you would think Neil will get the job, but we've got to take it one game at a time. We're striving to be the best we can be and trying to climb the league.
"If we can win a few in a row it'll give the chairman a headache in terms of giving Redders the job."
