Teenage goalkeeper Alex Cairns has joined Blue Square Premier outfit Barrow on a month's loan.

The 19-year-old signed his first professional deal last summer and was rewarded with a new two-year contract last week.

Alex, who made his first team debut as a half-time substitute against Blackpool in November, is looking forward to the opportunity.

"I'm delighted," said Alex.

"It's a good chance to get out and play some games and hopefully show what I can do.

"Training will be mixed between Barrow and Leeds so I'll still be able to work with Lonners and Maik here, and will get the experience up there, and get the games as well.

"It's a great opportunity for me and I'm looking forward to it."
