USA international eager to get going...
USA international winger Robbie Rogers is hoping to secure his work permit to enable to pursue his career "at the highest level."
A deal has been agreed to sign the highly-rated 24-year-old, subject to a successful work permit application, and he has already impressed manager Simon Grayson with his qualities in training.
The boss says Robbie will make an immediate impact in his first team squad, and the player has wasted little time in settling into his new surrounds.
"I heard that Leeds were interested and after the games in Paris and against Solvenia I came over for 10 days and I thoroughly enjoyed my time here," he said.
"I felt very comfortable, the facilities are excellent, and things were worked out for me to come back.
"I've spent the past week or so working on my fitness levels and trying to get my work permit sorted which will hopefully happen because I'm very excited to get going.
"I had opportunities to stay in the MLS which would have been very comfortable, but I've grown up watching European soccer and this is the time to take that chance and test myself as a player and a person.
"This is a great challenge and I'm ready for it. I hope I can contribute offensively and defensively.
"I've been working hard at Thorp Arch after training and in the gym. It's a great challenge for me. They're all really good guys here who have been very welcoming, and it's been a pleasure."
Grayson revealed that he has received a number of glowing references about the player, including a telephone call from World Cup winner and current USA boss Jurgen Klinsmann.
"Jurgen is a great guy and a great coach, and to be involved with his teams over the past six months has been a great experience," said Robbie.
"I have to work extremely hard to stay in that team, but being at Leeds will help that.
"Look at guys like Clint Dempsey, Stuart Holden and the guys over here. It takes time to adjust, but if you can prove yourself here you are doing it at the highest level."
