Nathan and Lewis receive award...
Boston Spa School held their annual academic award ceremony recently which includes the prestigious Leeds United Academy Award for Academic Excellence.
This year for the first time it went to two recipients, Nathan and Lewis Turner, who both excelled in the BTEC National Diploma in Sport Studies (Performance and Excellence).
The course is designed to fit around professional sport with Units reflecting components that they come across regularly in their football life including Anatomy & Physiology, Psychology and Sports Nutrition.
Both Nathan and Lewis achieved the highest possible grades (Distinction profiles) which are equivalent to three A grades at A Level.
This is even more impressive considering the lads completed their full time academic course alongside being apprentice footballers still managing to both gain professional contracts.
Lucy Ward, the club's Head of Education and Welfare, said: "Nathan and Lewis have the same dedication to their work in the classroom as they do to their approach to football which is why they have been successful in both.
"You find as a teacher that it is difficult for young players to switch attitudes between the two so the ones that do well have a great work ethic in everything they do.
"I am very proud of them as they should be of themselves. They are a credit to their parents and themselves."
