Simon Grayson at Arsenal

United manager Simon Grayson is calling on his players to draw on the experience of Monday's performance at Arsenal - but insists a different mindset will be needed at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Leeds kept men behind the ball against the Gunners in the FA Cup clash and allowed Arsenal to dominate possession while United looked to attack on the counter.

It was a change from the more attacking attitude seen in the Championship and the United boss says while heart can be taken from the organised defensive effort at the Emirates, United will go to Selhurst Park with a different approach.

"It's never easy going into games after you've had a game like we did on Monday," said the boss.

"At Arsenal we dropped off and let them have it, but if we go to Palace and Middlesbrough and places like that and let them have it, it isn't our sort of game.

"We have to learn from that in terms of how we can press the ball in the right areas, but the desire and the spirit is there, everyone could see that over the past couple of games.

"It's a big game at Palace, and while we enjoyed Monday we've prepared properly for Saturday and what is our bread and butter."

United's young back four earned plenty of plaudits at Arsenal on Monday with Darren O'Dea being the elder statesman alongside three products of the club's Academy, Tom Lees, Aidy White, and Zac Thompson.

"They'll have learned from the experience and loved playing against some of the players they did," said the boss. "All of them did very well.

"They have a desire to do well, a fantastic work ethic, they are all good players, and I think the future is bright for all of them. That's why they're in the team and have the respect they have.

"Zac earned the opportunity after what he did against Burnley and if we produce performances like we did on Monday and keep producing players like this, we won't be too far away come the end of the season."
