United boss Simon Grayson will find himself performing a defensive head count as the preparations get underway for Monday's FA Cup third round trip to Arsenal.

Paddy Kisnorbo and Alex Bruce became the latest defensive injury victims during Monday's win against Burnley. Paddy was withdrawn after picking up a knee injury while Alex played the final moments with a hamstring injury.

Leigh Bromby and Tom Lees were also sidelined for the Burnley game, although Grayson is hoping the latter will get the all-clear to return to action after suffering a head injury at Derby County on Boxing Day.

"We were down to the bare bones on Monday," said the boss.

"Alex came back into the team and got a hamstring injury, Paddy got an injury, Leigh Bromby's injured, and Tom Lees was injured so we were down to the bones.

"We'll have to wait and see where we are with Paddy and Alex over the next few days. We'll speak with the doctor about Tom and see if he can join in training at the end of the week.

"It's an area we might have to look to strengthen. We tried to bring a couple in before the Burnley game, and it didn't quite happen.

"The priority now is the Palace game. If it happens before Arsenal it's a bonus, but it's not massively important for us in terms of new faces."
