Scotland international Robert Snodgrass is sidelined from action after undergoing an appendix operation.

The player was taken in for surgery on Thursday afternoon to have his appendix removed.

"Rob had an operation on Thursday," confirmed manager Simon Grayson.

"It wasn't something that was planned, but we were hoping to keep it quiet until after the team-sheets had been exchanged at Barnsley in order not to alert our opponents.

"We're not putting any timescale on things, but hopefully he won't be absent for too long a period."

Tom Lees is already rated doubtful for the Oakwell clash on Saturday, but the club has recalled Alex Bruce from his loan spell at Huddersfield ahead of the game.
