Jonny Howson

Skipper Jonny Howson is hoping to lead a Leeds United backlash at Leicester City on Sunday.

United experienced a heaviest home defeat in 31 years when Blackpool ran in five without reply on a humiliating night at Elland Road in midweek.

And Simon Grayson's side now face a trip to face pre-season promotion favourites Leicester at the King Power Stadium on Sunday (3pm).

"We were very disappointed and very disheartened after the Blackpool game, but it's one of those freak results and we seem to get one each year for some reason and it's now how you react," said Jonny.

"A good example is how Man U got hammered 6-1 at home then came back and had two solid wins, and if a club like that can do it…It happened to us against Cardiff at home last season and we came back from that well.

"Only time will tell whether it affects us, but there's nothing we can do about it now because it's gone. You can say all the things you want to say, but we have to look to Sunday at Leicester. You put it to the back of your mind and get on with it. It's about being men and standing up.

"Leicester are one of the favourites for the league and it's a game you want. We're at their place, they'll be favourites and it's a chance for us to give it a go."

Leeds will also come up against former goal machine Jermaine Beckford on Sunday. It'll be the first time Jermaine has played against his former club since leaving Elland Road in the summer of 2010 after scoring the all-important winner in the promotion decider against Bristol Rovers.

"It'll be nice to see Jermaine again," added Jonny. "I've not seen him since he left here, but hopefully we'll be the ones coming away the happiest."
