Thorp Arch

Leeds United's latest batch of trialists will remain at Thorp Arch until the end of the week at least.

United boss Simon Grayson is casting his eye over a number of trialists, including German striker Felix Luz, and a behind-closed-doors game will take place on Friday.

"We keep looking at different players and will continue to do so," said the boss. "The lads here now are here until the weekend and we'll make a decision then."

One trialist who has departed is winger Alex Mendy, who featured in pre-season.

"We spoke about Alex in terms of a contract, but it's about prioritising what we are looking for and what areas are we looking at," said the boss

"Would Alex have played in the first team at this stage? We felt he wouldn't get close enough at this time with the likes of Gradel, Snodgrass, Nunez, and Sam, and it's about looking at what we need in terms of the first team."

Grayson has previously cited the areas he is keen to strengthen, although he admits an out and out striker is a conundrum.

"We nearly brought someone into that role on Monday until the goalposts were moved on the deal," he said.

"It's a strange one because we have lost three strikers in the space of just a few weeks. Billy is touch and go for the weekend so we'll see."
