GRADEL

United's Player of the Year Max Gradel won his first international cap this weekend after stepping off the bench for the Ivory Coast.

The 23-year-old came off the bench in the second half of the Elephants' 6-2 win against Benin to link up with the likes of Didier Drogba for his country.

The win was enough for the Ivory Coast to book their place in next year's Africa Cup of Nations which takes place in January and February.

Davide Somma was also in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying action as South Africa all-but secured their place in the tournament with a 0-0 draw in Egypt.

United striker Davide came off the bench for the final five minutes of the clash in Egypt.

But there was to be no taste of international action for goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, who didn't feature for Denmark in their game in Iceland
