Jonny Howson tussles with Micky Doyle

Jonny Howson firmly believes Leeds must use the inspiration of previous defeats to get back to winning ways when the campaign starts again on Saturday week.

United have only lost three league games since October and have responded positively each time. The most recent defeat, before last weekend's 2-0 loss to Sheffield United, came at Swansea at the end of February when Simon Grayson's men bounced back to collect seven points from a possible nine.

"Saturday was the same as Swansea in that the manner in which we got beat was very disappointing," said Jonny.

"What we have to do is bounce back like we did after that defeat. A lot of people wrote us off then because we had fallen eight points behind second place. But, within a week, it was back down to two.

"It is not a good result to take into an international break, but we have to try and look at the positives.

"We have a two-week break and a chance to rest up and refresh ourselves. There are a lot of important games coming up.

"There have been a lot of freak results with teams around us dropping points. After beating us, Swansea didn't win again until Saturday.

"There will be twists and turns along the way. We just have to focus on our own jobs."

On a disappointing performance at the weekend, Jonny added: "It didn't happen for us. We never got going and they deserved the three points.

"We didn't create much. We whipped in a few free-kicks in but they had a lot more chances than us and deserved the win.

"We knew it would be high-tempo and that they would come out of the traps flying. But we didn't react to it."
