Sportingbet's preview and prices...
The last time Leeds United visited Bramall Lane, Sheffield United had just clinched promotion to the Premier League but how times have changed.
The mantle of best Yorkshire club is up for grabs and United are ready to pounce. After losing to Swansea, the Whites have bounced back with two wins and a draw to comeback right into promotion contention.
Meanwhile, the Blades have struggled and toiled through this season and under Micky Adams, Sheffield are rooted in the bottom three and staring relegation in the face after a dreadful run of form.
With the two teams' contrasting fortunes, we make Leeds 11/10 favourites to come away from Bramall Lane with three points. The hosts are 21/10 with the draw a further 23/10 with Sportingbet.
And after shouting about goals in Leeds games, we were as surprised as anyone when they were held to a goalless draw with Ipswich in their last Championship encounter.
We don't expect the scoreboard to be redundant again this weekend and there's good reasoning behind our bullish claims. Sheffield United have kept just one clean sheet in their last 15 home games which doesn't bode well for the visit of United - the Championship's highest goalscorers.
Over 2.5 Goals in this Yorkshire derby is nicely priced, a slice below evens, at 17/20. Those daring enough to foresee more, and Over 3.5 Goals could pick up a rather tasty 23/10.
Both Teams To Score is always a decent shout when these two teams are involved in Championship action but that 13/20 doesn't appeal too much but backing Leeds/Leeds in the Double Result at 21/10 is much more enticing for punters.
Baring in mind Leeds have lost just two of their last 24 Championship matches (away to fellow promotion hopefuls Cardiff and Swansea), we're expecting them to break the deadlock in the derby. That's why the 6/1 on Max Gradel to open the scoring or 15/2 on Robert Snodgrass is the way to go in the goalscoring markets. Don't rule out the 14/1 on Barry Bannan netting his maiden goal for the Whites though.
Finally, for those confident United supporters, Sportingbet are offering a huge 3/1 on Leeds winning -1 in the handicap market. Is that worth a punt?
