Sportingbet's preview and prices...
Leeds host Norwich this weekend in what is undoubtedly the biggest game of the season for Simon Grayson's men. With the Canaries sitting just above United in the promotion battle, a win would enable the Whites to leapfrog Norwich and back in with a serious shout of an automatic promotion slot.
United produced an outstanding 90-minute display at Bristol City in their last Championship outing, running out 2-0 winners thanks to Robert Snodgrass' superb opener and Max Gradel's 10th goal of the season. The three points collected meant Leeds are now unbeaten in their last five league encounters and have won two on the bounce to be within three points of that top two spot.
Grayson is expected to name the same side that won at Bristol last week and at odds-against (11/10); surely United are worth a shout at extending that unbeaten run with a third successive win at Elland Road?
Norwich, who have shown plenty of promise on the road this season with the second best away record in the Championship, are priced up at 11/5 whilst the draw is a 9/4 option with Sportingbet.
Leeds will need to be on their toes for the full 90 minutes as Paul Lambert's side have scraped results with some stoppage-time goals in previous weeks but with both sides enjoying a fruitful campaign in front of goal, the goals markets again look the place to be for Saturday afternoon's clash.
The Canaries have only failed to score in 13% of their trips in the league with their games averaging just under 2.5 goals. Meanwhile, the Whites average two goals a game at home, have the second best attack in the league and matches at Elland Road averaging a massive 3.60 goals a game - the highest in the Championship.
If you've not been statted out by those figures, take a look at the 4/5* on Over 2.5 Goals as an almost certainty and for those daring enough, the Over 3.5 Goals market is priced up at a very attractive 11/5.
Luciano Becchio again heads the betting in the First Goalscorer market at 11/2 but Max Gradel (6/1), Robert Snodgrass (7/1) and Jonny Howson 11/1 are the standout prices for United players to net the opening goal.
Leeds are 21/20 to net Over 1.5 Goals themselves with Both Teams To Score on offer at 8/13. But if you prefer a punt on the Correct Score, take a look at a 3-1 Leeds win at 16/1. Meanwhile, a 3-2 win is available at 25/1, a 2-1 win is 15/2 with a high-scoring 2-2 draw is on offer at 12/1.
