Davide Somma scores at Barnsley

United striker Davide Somma bagged his first international goal on Wednesday evening as South Africa beat Kenya in Rustenburg.

Making only his second start for his country, Davide struck in the second minute of the international friendly clash when he converted a low cross.

A goal was no less than the United marksman deserved for his efforts on a night when he really shone on the international stage.

During a frenetic opening 45 minutes, Somma hit the upright, was denied by Kenya goalkeeper Onyango after breaking through the defence to latch on to an incisive pass, and also turned a shot just wide of the mark.

Everton's Steven Pienaar scored a second for the Bafana Bafana before the break, but our man Somma could have added a third goal midway through the second period, when he was just beaten to the ball by the Kenyan goalkeeper, before he was substituted with 17 minutes remaining.

The striker will journey back to England on Thursday and will re-join the United squad ahead of Saturday's clash with Bristol City at Ashton Gate.
