Leeds United have agreed a deal to sign Aston Villa defender Eric Lichaj on a month's loan.
The 22-year-old American was due to complete the formalities of his switch on Thursday before joining up with the squad for the first time.
Lichaj, who has represented the USA at under-17 and under-20 level, has had previous loan spells with Lincoln and Leyton Orient.
He also has a reputation for possessing a devastating long-throw.
United boss Simon Grayson said: "A deal has been agreed for Eric to join us and we're delighted Aston Villa have agreed to let him come.
"He is a player that they have high hopes for and they believe him coming to Leeds will be beneficial for him and us.
"A few other Championship clubs were interested so we are delighted to get a player that has played international football at different levels."
Lichaj is a right-back and, with Paul Connolly troubled by a hamstring injury, could go straight into the squad for Saturday's game at Bristol City, subject to the formalities being completed.
