Max Gradel scores at Norwich

Winger Max Gradel is determined to keep making an impression down the left hand side for Leeds United.

The former Leicester flyer netted United's opener at Norwich on Saturday, and he has made a real impact in recent weeks with his pace and delivery from the left flank.

"Saturday was one of my best games, but the most important thing was the performance of the team," said Max.

"This is a new season with better players and higher expectations, and you have to be ready for the challenge.

"The staff have been helping me to improve my game and be ready, focus on the basic stuff and keep on improving.

"There's a lot of players pushing for places as well. There's plenty of competition and that's good because you have to play well to stay in the team."

Simon Grayson has been deploying an attacking formation that has seen Gradel and Robert Snodgrass operating wide and given Jonny Howson the licence to push forward from the middle.

"This is a good formation for us because when we lose the ball we go back to the middle," said Gradel.

"It's good for the team because we have played well with this formation.

"There's a lot of confidence. We have to keep believing in ourselves.

"We have a big squad with quality players and we need to carry on doing the basic stuff."

United currently sit fifth in the division after a five-game unbeaten run and in a league that is wide open, a promotion push is not out of the question.

"I want to play in the Premier League with Leeds," said Max. "It would be fantastic to help a big club like this get back.

"It would be a dream for any player to help the club achieve that."
