McCartney joins Leeds United...
Leeds United have signed Northern Ireland international George McCartney on a month's loan from Sunderland.
The left-back met his new team-mates for the first time on Thursday morning at Thorp Arch and he will go straight into the squad for the weekend clash with Sheffield United.
United manager Simon Grayson said: "We're delighted to welcome George. He has good experience, he strengthens the squad and gives us increased for places."
The 29-year-old boasts plenty of experience, having made almost 200 appearances for the Black Cats. He also spent two years at West Ham, where he made 71 appearances.
United first team coach Glynn Snodin knows the defender well from working together on the international stage.
George has won 27 caps for Northern Ireland.
