Goalkeeper makes big impression...
United goalkeeper Shane Higgs is hoping to seize his chance again after being handed a first team return against Swansea on Saturday.
Shane, a key figure during our promotion winning campaign, returned to the side in place of the injured Kasper Schmeichel, and he turned in an impressive performance.
While unable to prevent Stephen Dobbie's opener for the Swans, the keeper made three decisive saves before the half-time break, including one superb block to deny Scott Sinclair moments before the break.
United responded in the second half to turn the scoreline around, and emerged 2-1 winners.
"It was a tough game," said Shane. "We know they are a good side. We stopped them early on, but when they scored the game changed a bit and they started passing it around like we knew they could.
"I couldn't do much about the goal, but you have to keep your head up and I made a few saves after that.
"At 2-0 it could have changed the game so I was pleased to make the saves."
Shane shared goalkeeping duties with Kasper during pre-season, but it was the Dane who got the nod to start the campaign, and he was impressive during the first month.
Simon Grayson has confirmed that Kasper will be sidelined for at least the next two games and after biding his time, Shane now has the opportunity to stake his claim.
"I was disappointed not to start the season, but I'm disappointed for Kasper with the injury. He has played well," said Shane.
"There's only one place to play for when you are a goalkeeper so you have to be patient.
"It seems to be the way that if you do well you stay in. If i play well and we get results, I've got a good chance."
Saturday's win was United's third in a row in the Championship, and Grayson's side have made a great start to life in a higher division.
"There's not as much pressure this year and the players seem to be relishing it," added Shane.
"So far, we haven't seen anything that will worry us too much. It's all about building up your home form and your results.
"Last year we were in the wrong league, now we're closer to where we want to be."
