Striker scores as Faye plays full game...
New signing Ross McCormack scored his first Leeds goal and former Premier League midfielder Amdy Faye completed 90 minutes as the reserves drew at Grimsby on Tuesday.
McCormack struck United's equaliser three minutes from time when he cancelled out Nathan Dixon's second half opener for the home side.
United manager Simon Grayson was among the sparse crowd at Blundell Park, making a check on former Portsmouth and Stoke midfielder Faye, who has been training with the club. Faye completed the full game, playing in an anchor role in the middle of the park.
The game also saw Leigh Bromby play the full 90 minutes, along with Jason Crowe, Aidy White, Adam Clayton, Andy Robinson, and Mike Grella.
Davide Somma played the opening 45 minutes and he twice went close to scoring during the first period. Grella was also denied by Grimsby goalkeeper Nathan Dean while McCormack had a free-kick blocked.
While Leeds shaded the first half, it was the hosts who took the lead just eight minutes into the second period when Nathan Dixon's strike went in off a post.
United responded with Grella going close again while Clayton, who showed good distribution, had a header saved by Dean.
But the equaliser came on 87 minutes when Will Hatfield was denied by a combination of Dean and the woodwork after an White cross, and McCormack was on hand to nod home the follow up from close range.
