Callum DavenportUnited have not given up on the possibility of signing former West Ham, Tottenham and Coventry City central defender Calum Davenport.

The 27-year-old former England Under-21 international, who is available after parting company with West Ham in March of this year, has returned home to London after a spell training with Leeds at Thorp Arch.

"He has not trained with us for the last couple of days," manager Simon Grayson said. "He has gone back to London to sort out a few things and to decide what he wants to do. It's a decision he has made."

The manager said Davenport had done OK while training with the club though no terms had been offered to the player.

"We have not discarded him or anything like that," he added. "There are a couple of personal things he needs to sort out before he decides what he is going to do."

The boss said he would try to get the player if that situation arose.  "He showed us what he is capable of doing when he was training with us. But it is down to the player really to decide what he wants to do with his future," he added.
