Delighted marksman on his maximum impact...
Striker Davide Somma was rewarded for taking on board the advice of both Simon Grayson and Chris Sutton when he scored his first senior goals for the club on Saturday.
With words of encouragement ringing in his ears from the Leeds boss, and some tips from former England striker Sutton, Somma's boss during a loan spell at Lincoln last season, the South African stepped off the bench to score twice as United sealed a 3-1 win against Millwall.
"I'm just happy we got a win," said Davide. "I got two goals and everyone is happy.
"The gaffer just said 'do your thing'. I've been training with them and it's really good.
"When I was at Lincoln last season, Chris Sutton said 'always stay positive and stay sharp because defenders switch off.'
"On Saturday, one defender got tired and it happened. Luciano could have hit it, but he saw I was in a good position, let it through, and I finished it off.
"I want to set my standards high because I want to go up in football."
The victory was more comprehensive that the 3-1 scoreline suggested with United carving out chance after chance against a side who had a 100 per cent record ahead of the game.
"We deserved it," added Dave. "We were all over them. We have a good team here.
"I knew they were a tough team. They are a busy side, but we had to pressure high and that's what we did."
