Grayson not downbeat after Derby defeat...
United manager Simon Grayson was quick to draw on the positives after watching his side suffer an opening day defeat the hands of Derby County.
The visitors won an entertaining contest 2-1 with all the goals coming inside the opening 45 minutes.
It was the first time Leeds have suffered an opening day defeat since August 1989 - the same season Howard Wilkinson led the club to promotion - but the manager said there were plenty of things to take from the game.
"It was always going to be a good test and a step up," he said.
"You're in the Championship, on a bigger stage with better players who are fitter and stronger and you have to learn quickly.
"I thought we did well at times and I was pleased with a lot of things, but there's also things to work on if we are to do well.
"It was the first game of the season and when you look around there were some strange results.
"Everyone feels you have to take the game to the opposition when you're at home on the opening day. We did that and got done on the counter, but we hit the woodwork a few times and made their keeper work.
"It was probably too open for both managers, but we have to learn from it and I'm sure we will get better.
"You have to use that bit of guile and get the ball down the sides. There's lots of positives to draw on and that's how we'll take it.
"We have done well at times, but it was the first game of the season. It's a learning curve and credit to Derby."
