Max Gradel scores against Wolves

Suspended Max Gradel says he is desperate to repay the faith shown by Simon Grayson and the Leeds United fans when his suspension is over.

Max, who has been in terrific form during pre-season, now faces a frustrating four games on the sidelines following his final day dismissal against Bristol Rovers last season.

"Things like this happen, but I have to learn from last year so I don't do anything like that again," said Max.

"You have to come back stronger and don't do stuff like that again.

"I was relieved after the game against Bristol, but you have to get on with it.

"The manager has really helped me. He given's me games when he didn't have to do it in pre-season, and I'm very grateful to him.

"I owe the manager, the fans, the club and everyone."

The former Leicester flyer was certainly in fine fettle last weekend when he turned in a rampaging display down the flank.

But he was quick to dismiss a suggestion that it was his best performance in a Leeds shirt.

"It was a preparation game, the only thing that matters is the season," he said.

"I'm looking forweard to the start of the season. I'll have an extended running session and I hope I'll be ready when I come back.

"We've brought players in, but you need competition, I don't mind that. We're stronger than last season.

"I hope when I get back I will get in the team.

"I've never played in the Championship, but I know it's a tough division."
