Leeds United chairman Ken Bates has confirmed that fans wanting to bring vuvuzelas to Elland Road next season will not be welcome.

A number of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Spurs, have confirmed they have banned vuvuzelas while Burnley and Norwich City are among the npower Championship clubs to make a stand against an instrument which proved the scourge of the World Cup.

Speaking to Yorkshire Radio on Wednesday morning, the Elland Road chairman confirmed Leeds would be following suit and vuvuzelas would not be welcome inside the stadium.

"We won't be having them," the chairman told Yorkshire Radio

"We'll be firm. If anyone brings them they will be thrown out

"They are a dreadful noise, and frankly we can do without it.

"I like all the Leeds songs and the atmosphere our fans create without those awful things."
