Aidan White

Youngster Aidan White firmly believes pre-season is an opportunity to shine in front of the watchful eye of United manager Simon Grayson.

The homegrown Academy product, who made his debut as a 16-year-old back in August 2008, is on his second senior pre-season tour with the squad and he is hoping to make an impact.

"Pre-season is a chance to shine," said Aidy.

"There's a few games and there's not as much pressure as there is in the league, and it's a chance to show the manager what you can do.

"I'd like to go about things right, play as much as i can, and be really involved with everything."

Aidy was in the first half starting XI on Tuesday night when he played on the left side of midfield against Slovakian Premier League side MFK Ruzomberok.

"You're always finding your feet on your first game back," he explained. "You're finding your touch and using your head.

"We've been working hard and I think we're ready for it, but the team we played on Tuesday were on their last pre-season game and gave us a really good test.

"They liked to play, and passed and moved. They are a good footballing team. You get teams like that over here and it was a nice test.

"There's a few fans come over and you have to try and put on a show for them as well in pre-season.

"It's been really good out here. It's been very hot while we've been training, but everyone has settled in well and got to know each other."

Aidy's previous tour experience with the senior squad came in Ireland, and he was treated to something a bit different on Wednesday when the players and management headed up to the mountains for a warm-down with a difference.

"I was a bit stiff waking up after the first game and it was nice to get it out of your legs by having a walk and a stretch in the mountains," he added.

"The views were nice and it was nice to see what Slovakia has to offer."
