Brendan Ormsby

Former Leeds United skipper Brendan Ormsby is hoping Saturday will day turn into a day of celebration at Elland Road.

United entertain Bristol Rovers in front of a sell-out crowd knowing that victory would secure a return to the Coca-Cola Championship.

Ormsby skippered the club during the 1980s and was on the losing side in the first ever Play-Off finals back in 1987 when we were ousted by Charlton in a replay.

Brendan is still a regular at Elland Road, though, and says he is confident Leeds can seal second spot.

"I'm feeling confident that we'll get the win on Saturday," said Brendan.

"Other results went our way at the weekend and if we win we're up. It could be a great party.

"I'm sure Simon will take the brunt during the week and will take the edge away from the players.

"There's a lot stake, but they should be full of confidence and if we can get an early goal...

"They don't need to rush it, take their time, and relax. I'm sure they're looking forward to it.

"Hopefully we can finish the season on a massive high with promotion, but equally with a good performance and a good result."

Brendan joined a number of the club's former players - along with the management - at our annual Golf Day at Oulton Hall on Tuesday.

"The course was lovely and it was a great day for golf," added Brendan.

"I told the lads I was playing with I'd do my best to help them, but I haven't really played a lot for a while.

"It's nice to see supporters and ex-players at events like this and have a good chat about what's gone on and what's coming up on Saturday."
