Ben Parker in action at York

United manager Simon Grayson is waiting on the scan results of Ben Parker's calf injury before learning the extent of any problem.

The young defender, making his first start since the opening day of the season, was forced out of the action against MK Dons on Saturday after suffering a calf injury.

A tearful Ben left the field after what has been a frustrating campaign, but the manager is hopeful positive scan results will see him remain in the fray.

"Ben has played a few reserve games and we were more than happy that he was ready to comeback," explained the boss.

"Unfortunately for him he pulled his calf. Sometimes when you've been out for a while these things do happen.

"He's had a scan and we're waiting on the results of that. Hopefully it's nothing too severe and he'll be back as soon as possible.

"I think everyone felt for him because it has been a very touch year for him, but he has worked so hard in coming back."
