Luciano Becchio heads home at Tranmere

Striker Luciano Becchio could be set to return to the Leeds United squad for the promotion run-in.

Luciano missed the Easter games against Swindon and Yeovil after suffering a serious head injury during the previous outing against Norwich at Carrow Road.

The striker was left out as a precaution after being knocked out during the Norwich game, but United manager Simon Grayson could be set to welcome him back to the fold for the visit of Southend on Saturday.

"There's a chance Luci could be back," said the boss.

"We left him out of the games against Swindon and Yeovil after speaking with the doctor, but we'll see how things are ahead of the weekend."

Mike Grella worked hard in place of Becchio against Swindon last Saturday while Max Gradel turned in his best performance in the starting line-up at Yeovil on Monday when he partnered Jermaine Beckford.

The manager is happy that competition for places up front is strong and will consider his options ahead of the weekend.

Gary McSheffrey could also come back into the equation after injury while Ben Parker and Aidy White both played for the reserves at Rotherham on Wednesday.
