Richard Naylor is mobbed after scoring against Yeovil

Club captain Richard Naylor may have doubled his goals tally for Leeds United at Yeovil on Monday - but the centre-back insists the win was all that mattered.

The skipper struck twice in the first half to give Leeds the lead and was only denied a hat-trick by a goalline clearance during the second half as United went on to record a 2-1 win at Huish Park.

"Me scoring doesn't happen very often," Richard told LUTV.

"It was nice, but the main thing was getting the win.

"I was very pleased with the goals, set-pieces are important to us, and we could have had more than just the two goals.

"I think maybe we were a bit nervous in the last 20 minutes or so after they scored because we knew the game was ours and they had nothing to lose.

"They chucked everything at us, but we held out and we're glad to be back on track.

"It would have been nice to get a third or a fourth, but we'll take the points. That's what count."

The 2-1 victory came after a run of four straight defeats and with six games remaining, United are now fourth in the table with Swindon occupying the second promotion spot, and Millwall just behind them.

"Being honest, we didn't care how we played or how it came about on Monday," said the captain.

"We needed three points to give us confidence and momentum for the last six games.

"We're up against it. We've had some bad results, and we've played well on occasions and not got results.

"It was important we stayed together. When I scored everyone came together and it's a nice feeling.

"Yeovil has gone now, though. We have another home game on Saturday and we have to push on.

"We thought Tranmere was a turning point last month, but it wasn't. We have to really focus and get going again."
