Simon Grayson celebrates at Old Trafford

After returning to winning ways at Elland Road in midweek, Simon Grayson and his players were turning their attentions towards the weekend trip to Huddersfield Town when they re-grouped at Thorp Arch on Thursday morning.

United's position in the promotion places was strengthened again on Tuesday with a 2-0 win against Oldham and Grayson's men now make the short trip down the M62 to face a side who are looking to secure a place in the Play-Offs.

"I though our players played very well on Tuesday," said the United boss.

"There was a zip and spark about us that's been missing.

"The players took their opportunities and in doing so they gathered more confidence and belief in themselves again."

Grayson will again name from strength, and may be boosted by the return of uncompromising striker Tresor Kandol to further strengthen his squad for the trip to the Galpharm.

"We have a good squad and whatever team we put out we try and gather as many points as we can," he said.

"We're up against a decent Huddersfield side both collectively and individually, but we like to think we've got those players as well."

Thorp Arch was the scene for a practice match on Thursday with a number of first team squad members being handed a short run-out to keep fitness levels up.

Ben Parker and Kandol were also both involved in the game as they continue their comebacks from injury.

"Saturday will be too soon for Ben," said the manager.

"We had a practice match on Thursday morning for the lad who have been injured and they played 60 minutes.

"Ben still needs games, but he's coming through without any problem.

"Tres has had a month out and the game will have helped him, but we'll see how everyone is on Friday."
