80s stars join manager and music stars...
Simon Grayson will be pulling on a Leeds United shirt and donning his boots again early next month in a bid to raise funds for charity.
Simon kindly agreed to call on some old friends to get a team together to take on a Leeds Fans Remembrance XI in the hope of raising money for Candelighters, the childrens cancer charity.
Simon will be joined by his coaching staff - Glynn Snodin, Ian Miller, and Andy Beasley - and a number of our former 80s heroes, including John Sheridan, Tommy Wright, Brendan Ormsby, Bobby Davison, Andy Ritchie, and John Stiles.
The club's Under-18s coach and veteran of over 1000 Football League appearances Neil Redfearn will be lining up along with Nick and Whitey from Kaiser Chiefs, and Yorkshire County Cricket Club trio Anthony McGrath, Andrew Gale, and Martyn Moxon.
Simon said: "We're looking forward to it and it should be a good day. I'm grateful to all the lads who have said they will play and I'm sure we'll enjoy it. The main thing is raising money for charity and I hope as many people as possible will come down on the day."
Leeds Fans Remembrance was set up in memory of Chris Loftus and Kevin Speight who were brutally killed in Turkey 10 years ago. The group have already performed a number of events so far this season, including a sponsored walk, a bike ride, and, recently, a gruelling tough guy challenge.
The Remembrance XI that comes up against Simon's XI will comprise of a number of the lads who have taken part in the different challenges so far this year. The group are offering places in their team for the second half of the game, all you have to do is visit www.leedsfansremembrance.com for more more information.
The game will take place at Garforth Town on Sunday March 7 and kick-off will be at 1pm. Refreshments will also be available.
"My message to everyone is to come down and support the cause," added Simon.
