United defender Paddy Kisnorbo returned to training at Thorp Arch on Thursday morning ahead of the weekend clash with Brighton.
The Aussie international has been sidelined since the 3-0 reverse at Swindon last month due to an Achilles problem, but he is now closing in on a return to action.
"Paddy trained on Thursday morning and we'll see how he reacts to the session we have had," said manager Simon Grayson.
"We can't take any risks, but he's done everything required and we'll see how he is.
"He has been consistent and he's been a leader and when your better players are out you do miss them."
Ben Parker and Tresor Kandol also trained on Thursday morning, following injury.
"Ben and Tres have trained again on Thursday so we're not too far away from getting our full complement of players back," added the boss.
"Neither been that close to the action recently so they need a reserve game, but they are good players."
