United focused on the present and not the past...
United manager Simon Grayson insists his players have had no time to reflect on previous trips to Carlisle as he prepares his squad for Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy Area Final second leg trip to Brunton Park (7pm).
United travel to the north west looking for a repeat of the 2008 League One Play-Off semi-final when a 2-1 first leg deficit was overhauled in front of just 2,000 Leeds fans.
A place at Wembley was secured that night and Jonny Howson's two goals sparked mass celebrations both on and off the field as the club enjoyed one its best evenings in recent years.
Gary McAllister was the United manager for the Play-Off win, but nine players involved in the Leeds squad that night are still at Elland Road.
"I don't think the players have had time to think about that game," said Grayson, who admits to enjoying the Play-Off win while on a post-season holiday.
"We don't have time to think about the past because of the way the games keep coming.
"We had Hartlepool at the weekend, and as soon as that was over we focused on Carlisle. As soon as this is gone, it's on to Leyton Orient.
"It's such a quick turnaround for players they don't get chance to think about what's happened in the past.
"We've played Carlisle a lot in this division - we've played them a lot since I've been here - and they are obviously a good footballing team."
Howson was the man who booked United's place at Wembley with his second and decisive goal coming in the final moments of the pulsating Play-Off semi-final meeting.
But while the memories still hold firm, it's there here and now that counts for the midfielder.
"It was a nice moment for me and for the team," said Jonny. "We fell at the final hurdle, but it was a happy memory.
"It'd be very nice if we could get through on Tuesday. The trip to Wembley is an incentive, and it'd be good to set things right after last time we were there, but we have to get there again first.
"We have a tough game at Carlisle, who are doing well at the minute. We know what we have to do. We'll be looking to start well and hopefully get to a cup final."
