New signing eager to get recognised again...
New loan signing Gary McSheffrey firmly believes he has joined a club on the march.
The Birmingham City striker has joined on loan until the end of the season and he wasted no time in making an impression on his debut, against Colchester on Saturday.
Gary had made just nine appearances for the Premier League this season and is aiming to make up for lost time at Elland Road.
"You get to the stage where you are sat on the bench and it's frustrating," he told LUTV.
"I wanted to come here and hopefully play 20-odd games and get myself back in the picture and be recognised again.
"It's a massive move for me. There was a couple of Championship clubs that would have been an option, but a club like Leeds is where you want to be. I'd rather be here than just sitting or playing in the Championship at a club that isn't pushing for promotion.
"Once I got the interest I wanted to come here - I have a good friend here in Michael Doyle - and I know about the club. It's come out of the Premier League, hit rock bottom, stabilised, and is on the way up again, and the only way is up for Leeds United.
"They are a great set of lads here as well. They all have one aim and one incentive and that is getting Leeds into the Championship.
"I'm out of contract in the summer and this is an opportunity for me. I just want to play as well as I can. If all goes well it's a win win situation."
Gary certainly made an impression on his first start, picking up the man of the match award for his performance on the left-flank.
"That was my first start since September," he admitted.
"It was nice to be thrown in and I felt sharp. It couldn't have gone much better, although a goal would have been the icing on the cake.
"I felt good and felt fresh and it was a good performance from the lads. They were a physical side, but the win was important and that's what we got."
