Simon Grayson looks on at Tottenham

United manager Simon Grayson insists his transfer targets have not altered during the month of January and is optimistic of adding new faces before the transfer window shuts at 5pm on Sunday.

"We're progressing niceley," said the boss. "We might have new faces in for the weekend or we might not

"I have players in mind that I believe will improve the squad, my targets have never changed.

"I think things will happen, but we do have a group who have been top and have proved how good they are.

"We need maybe a couple of frssh faces to add competition for places and keep everyone on their toes.

"You can get carried away in January because it's not as easy to get players as you think. Teams at the top want to get promoted and don't let players go, and teams near the bottom want to get out of relegation areas by not selling.

"Theres a lot of talk, but I only want players who can make us better and I'm certainly not paying over the odds for players."

One player who may be set for an extended stay at Elland Road is goalkeeper David Martin. The Liverpool keeper has been on loan since November and his loan is due to expire after this weekend's clash with Colchester United.

"We're talking with Liverpool," added the boss. "We'd like to keep David for longer and we'll see how things go."
