United go down at Hartlepool...
Leeds United reserves suffered a first defeat of the season at Hartlepool United on Wednesday night.
A dour contest at Billingham was settled by a David Foley goal eight minutes from time when the Hartlepool man converted after United goalkeeper Ryan Jones parried an effort from Michael Mackay.
Jones had earlier proved a first half hero for United when he pulled off a terrific save from the penalty spot to deny Ben Clark.
The closest United came to scoring was in the second half when Paul Huntington couldn't quite get enough on his header, following a corner kick.
Davide Somma did test Pools keeper Mark Cook during the opening period, following great work by Aidan White, but it was a game of few chances with little to excite a sparse crowd in the north east.
United: R Jones, Darville, Michalik (Williams 46), Huntington, L Turner (Watson 46), Robinson, Prutton, Hatfield, White (Payne 46), Somma, Whitwell. Subs (not used): Cairns, Baxendale.
