United manager frustrated by Carlisle defeat...
United manager Simon Grayson was left frustrated after watching his side got down 2-1 at home to Carlisle United in the JPT Area Final first leg at Elland Road on Tuesday.
United responded to falling a goal behind by creating the better chances throughout, but after Jason Crowe equalised, Carlisle stole the win the final moments courtesy of a Joe Anyinsah header.
"Sometimes you don't get your rewards, and on Tuesday we didn't get our rewards," said the boss.
"I didn't feel we deserved to lose the game. The first half was a bit too open for my liking, but I felt we created the better chances and in the second half we were more solid and limited them to very few opportunities.
"We got tighter to people after we changed the system in the second half. And we got balls into the box, and their keeper made some good saves. The performance was decent, but I was disappointed with the goals we conceded. We didn't defend the free-kick well enough at the end. We spoke about Hartey's quality at delivery.
"But we'd had some chances and some misses and things just didn't break for us. You accept that at times. The main thing is you know that if you keep doing the right things the results will come."
United now trail 2-1 ahead of the second leg in Cumbria on Tuesday February 9 (7.45pm).
"We're only a goal behind," added the boss. "We have players capable of creating chances and scoring in the away leg.
"We have bigger games in between now and then, but when it comes around they will be ready."
