Leigh Bromby celebrates at Stockport

United defender Leigh Bromby is set to join the massed ranks of Leeds fans at Old Trafford on Sunday - if he can get a ticket!

Leigh, who has travelled to Old Trafford before as a Leeds fan, will miss the FA Cup third round tie against Manchester United after picking up his fifth booking of the season at Stockport on Monday.

"I'm massively frustrated," he said.

"I've not played at Old Trafford before - I have seen Leeds play here - and it's a game I was looking forward to.

"I know all the tickets have sold out - a lot of my friends and family will be there - I just hope I get in to see the game!"

The yellow card which cost Leigh his place in the Leeds side on Sunday came during a bitter-sweet afternoon at Stockport.

At half-time he was deflated in the knowledge that he would be sitting out the FA Cup clash, but two minutes from time, he more than made up for his disappointment when he scored his first goal for the club, a sweet strike, to secure victory at Edgeley Park.

"It was great to score the goal and winning the game at Stockport was the most important thing," he said.

"The goal more than made up for earlier, but I was still gutted about the yellow.

"I knew as soon as I got booked I'd be suspended for Sunday, but it's just one of those things. You've got to get on with it and put to the back of your mind.

"I think it's definitely not a booking. If anyone sees it I haven't touched him and even the lad said I didn't touch him. It's just disappointing really especially with it being my first tackle.

"I think referees sometimes.... I can't say too much.... they do get a bit of stick."

While the trip to Man U on Sunday will provide a diversion from the norm, it's the promotion race in League One that remains the priority for everyone.

And, after winning the festive games against Southampton, Hartlepool, and Stockport, United will resume the league campaign in 2010 with a strong hand.

"It's been a great Christmas," added Leigh. "You can't ask for more than nine points from nine.

"Stockport was a big win on Monday because we were away, the conditions were against us, and they were well up for it, but we dug in there and showed why we're top of the league."
